The collection starts with an in-depth photographic study of turbulent aerial ocean life. Focusing in on the Kelp dance patterns and colours. Following the unfolding of the material she gathers, she moves into sculpture on canvas with heavy mediums and oil paint, resulting in ‘Abstract realism’

Nikki has studied bodies of water all over the globe and is fascinated by the vibrancy of uninterrupted hues bouncing off the clear ocean bed. As a photographer Nikki has honed her skills in seeing ways the light travels through objects and can completely change a composition depending on the angle and time of day an image is captured. Through her brush she moves those captures into her interpretation and often abstract progressions.
